RAKU SET

This is a set of Raku fired plates. I have personally found Raku fired pottery to be very interesting-the colors seem much more vibrant, and I like how the unglazed parts of the pieces turn into a charcoal black. Of course, the only drawback is that Raku fired pottery is not suitable for eating out of. The pieces are low fired, and thus the glazes can sort of "come off". Nevertheless, I think that the unique way in which Raku pieces are fired somehow make the pieces look special, and beautiful. For my pieces, I would like to experiment with a mono color, either blue, purple, or green, with a white crackle background. I have briefly experimented with Raku firing last year, and I would like to try it again this year, if given the chance. Though it is true, that I will not be able to eat out of the plates, even if I did successfully fire them, I think that I will be happy with the sheer look of the pieces.
