I really enjoy this particular teapot because of its smooth integration of controlled, strong lines, with the spontaneous forms of nature. To me, the branches made into the handles of the pot match perfectly on top of the rigid, stiff-looking surface and are complemented by the artist’s earthy color scheme. The designs on the outside of the teapot are also very controlled and have almost an Asian design to them. The theme of the pots seems to be uniform and the differing thickness and length of the various pot components add a uniqueness all its own. If I were to personally make this pot, though, I may make the spout of the pot a tad shorter in order to make the overall form more proportional and pleasing to the eyes. Overall, I feel this piece is a wonderful fusion of nature and civilization’s designs and the artist did a great job in his planning and execution of this piece.
